About me

Finding inspiration in everyday life

I have been a writer all of my life. Through high school and college I was encouraged to pursue my passion, but the realities of life and work took first place. So I put my dreams, and thus, the characters that were begging to see the light of the day on the back burner. I am sure other writers can attest to having a similar experience.  I was born and raised in Washington DC. I graduated from North Carolina Wesleyan College as an English and Criminal Justice major and it was there that I met my husband. We have been married for over 30 years, currently live in North Carolina and have raised two amazing sons together. It was also at college where I first met the characters in my book that would become such a big part of my life.  But for such a long time, I ignored those voices in my head that were clamoring to be free. I went on with my life, worked in a stable career, and although I continued to write my stories, I didn’t do much more to get them published. However, I do have the distinction of being published in three books in the Chicken Soup for the Soul series: ‘Chicken Soup for the African Americans Woman’s Soul’, ‘Chicken Soup for the Beach Lover’s Soul’ and ‘Chicken Soup for the Working Mom’s Soul’. That was an exciting time for me. Now years later, it is time for me to share my stories with others. I am grateful for the support of my family and friends who have encouraged me every step of the way.
